Company History

Fairport Garages has been evolving over the past 30 years and in its infancy started as purely a support function for Andrew Porter Ltd, which was established in 1973. At that time they were based in Wrightington and had a number of removal vans, all serviced at a garage in Standish.

Almost ten years later after a large expansion in the business Andrew Porter LTD moved to their current site in Adlington, Chorley a long with the garage. This move was essential in order to reduce downtime of the vehicles to and from the garage. As Andrew Porter LTD grew so did the garage in order to encompass the capacity and demand of their vehicles.

In 2002 the garage moved to its current location and in 2006 a £50,000 grant was awarded by Chorley Council to help establish Fairport Garages as it is known now. The award was to initiate job creation in the local area.

In 1993 Fairport Containers LTD similarly based in Adlington, provided refurbishment services to Biffa for their entire waste container fleet. As part of their offering also operated their own vehicles. Fairport Garages have continually supported them, by providing a fleet maintenance programme.

Since Fairport Garages’ early modest client base and with one mechanic, they now developed to service a number of local companies with their combined experience and expertise. There are now nine members of staff, including Lee Cunliffe the Garage Manager.

From routine repairs and servicing to full fleet management and maintenance programmes, Fairport Garages are able to accommodate any business for all of their commercial vehicle needs.
